Charleston Comedy Festival Stand Up Competition Registration is full.


Registration for the 2011 Charleston Stand Up Comedy Competition is now FULL.  We are no longer accepting registration.

All rounds will be taking place at Theatre 99 which is the best room for comedy in town!

To register for this year's competition go to www.charlestoncomedyfestival.com and follow the instructions.  Registration is open to anyone and is first come first serve.  You do not need to submit a video of your stand up to register. 

This year the prize money is $1000.00 to first place and the registration fee is $20.00.  The only way to sign up is online using PayPal.  We will not accept payment in person or via the mail.

This year the competition will have 5 preliminary rounds.  Each preliminary will have 12 comedians performing 5-minute sets.  Time will be kept in the light booth and if you go over 5 min, the lights go out and the MC will introduce the next comedian.  At the end of each prelim, the audience votes for their 2 favorite comedians and the top 4 performers move on the semi-final rounds.

All prelims will be held at Theatre 99 (280 Meeting Street above The Bicycle Shoppe) and show time is 10:00 p.m.

2010 Preliminary round dates:
Preliminary #1: Friday, September 17, 2010  (Semi-Finalists: Tom Keller, Jeff Martin, Tom Emmons and Art Sturtevant)
Preliminary #2: Friday, October 8, 2010   (registration FULL)
Preliminary #3: Friday, October 29, 2010  (registration FULL)
Preliminary #4: Friday, November 19, 2010  (registration FULL)
Preliminary #5: Saturday, December 4, 2010  (registration is FULL)

Semi-Final round dates:

Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:00 p.m. at Theatre 99 (280 Meeting Street)

Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 10:00 p.m. at Theatre 99 (280 Meeting Street)

FINALS DATE:  Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at Theatre 99 (280 Meeting Street)

When registering, comedians must select the preliminary date that they are available to perform.  All stand ups must to arrive by 9:30 p.m. on the night of their prelim or they will be disqualified.  All registration fees are non-refundable.

During the Semi-finals and Finals the same voting process will be used to select finalists and the winner.  Each audience member must vote for their 2 favorite comedians and the highest vote getting comedians either move on or win.
